Evenings are dark when we leave work and very soon ground frosts will have us scraping our windscreens. Just as well we squeezed in a visit to Africa recently, and can relive what being in the wilderness means. A poem we found pinned up in Napi camp is most appropriate. For this trip no horses involved but time spent in varied habitats gave us great gameviewing. We mostly walked in groups no more than eight with some great fun people. Over 230 species of birds were seen which for us as amateur bird-watchers is very good indeed for a 2-week trip but credit must be given to our excellent guides - Nic, Barry and Kali. 45 minutes at Lake Panic, pictured above, gave us over 30 different bird species, not to mention the hippos, crocodiles, impalas, nyala, bushbuck, warthog etc. The elephants we encountered didn't disappoint either. They are such fun to watch. Having a camera with a good zoom is a must!
